REVIEW: Charcuterie & Paella Return, New Sangria Menu Added to Spain for the 2023 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

Spain arrives at the 2023 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival with no new food offerings this year, however, its beverage menu is entirely new. For fans of sangria, there are several different types available, or a sangria flight if just can’t pick one to try!

They slice the meats fresh right here in the booth before assembling this brilliance in a cone. No, you can’t eat the cone, but you can eat all the cheese, olives, and meats packed into it. There’s value here for the price, due to the freshness of all the ingredients, plus it’s just tasty. We recommend.

Spanish-style paella is a staple at the Spain Marketplace, but this time around, it wasn’t as good as the charcuterie. The rice seems a little overdone and the shrimp is nothing to write home about. If anything, the chorizo is the winner of the dish, giving it a little kick. Otherwise, the paella is blander than we expected.

This dish is really oily. This is understandable, given the mixture is tossed in olive oil, but when half the glass is filled with oil, that’s just not fun. Still, there’s a healthy mixture of shrimp, scallops, mussels, olives, peppers, and more, making for a unique and flavorful offering. The price might be a bit too much if you don’t get a few good pieces of seafood, but we feel it’s a risk worth taking.

From Winebow Fine Wine & Spirits: “Young crisp white wine with a light straw color, elegant aromas of citrus, peach and pear fruit. Bright tastes of key lime pie with the subtle notes and structure.”

From Winebow Fine Wine & Spirits: “Young rose wine with elegant aromas. Clear, bright raspberry tinged wine produced from the teardrop juice of a selection of our best Garnacha grapes. Intense fruit aromas, smooth and balanced on the palate.”

From Winebow Fine Wine & Spirits: “Fresh bright red fruit balanced by a fine structure and ample bouquet. Viña Borgia is made from 100% Grenache and is a fine example of this varietal.”

The Spain Marketplace is located between the Germany and Italy Pavilions on World Showcase Promenade. You can find it at number 18 on the map above.

The 2023 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is running from July 27 through November 18.
